Afternoon Session (14:00 - 17:00)

TOPIC:   An Introduction To Integration Testing

PRESENTED BY:   Peter Wrigley, Bermondsey Electronics

This workshop will introduce general testing techniques for 60-90 minutes to allow anyone without the prerequisites to catch up.

It will present the benefits of automated testing and show how to apply this technique to firmware development. Within a development framework it will be shown how to introduce this stage and outline how integration testing can be part of an effective build pipeline. There will be a demonstartion of the software in action on the bench then delegates will run the test.

The demonstration will move on to changing the requirements; users will update the test to set appropriate thresholds and generate a test report. Some advanced topics such as connecting to arbitrary equipment, accessing host OS methods, test orchestration and returning a value from the command line will be explored.

An advanced example will be worked through, where users have to pick a route through the tests, invoke an external application to reprogram the target part way through the sequence, and produce a test report.

Course includes hardware to take away.
